My university experience with English began the second semester of 2020 with English II. I was a little concerned with the guidelines and planning of the course, since my Achilles heel are listening skills. I realized I could understand a large part of the class, and I said to myself, “look Yanko, you handle yourself in English”. At that momento, I became more confident and it helped me to enhance my English skills.
The experience in the development of the English courses are
excellent. Each of the teachers were very concerned about their students, how
we were doing and how to find new strategies to improve our English. And these
small details, one as a student fully appreciates them.
The time passed and I was coursing English III where I had
my first approach with these interesting blogs. These blogs helped me a lot to
improve my writing, vocabulary and learning the linguistic rules of the
language. And English IV was where these skills were further enhanced.
Now, making a self-criticism about my English, I find that I
must improve and challenge myself to speak the language In order to have the
proper use of grammar and the experience of being able to use the language
without hesitation.
Looking for strategies to be able to progress in my
development of English is creating instances of dialogue with peers or native
English friends that I have from school in order to generate more closeness to
a real conversation in the language.
Lately, I use English partially and every day in different
recreational situations, like when I listen to music I try to work on my
listening skills as I do the same when I watch international news like BBBC
News or FOX news.
